Image Handler 2.0
for Zen Cart 1.3I'm proud to announce that Image Handler 2 (IH2) is finally ready to be released. In a few minutes you will be able to download it from
breakmyzencart.com. This is the first release candidate which will hopefully be
the final 2.0 release unless there are some severe bugs I haven't found.
This release is very easy to install and will overwrite only very few files. It is a complete rewrite to adress some design flaws of the previous 0.x and 1.x series as well as introduce some cool new features. The following is a summary of the features:
- Improve site performance (faster loading, faster display)
- Professional looking images (no stair-effects, smooth edges)
- Uploading one image automatically creates small, medium and large images on page request.
- Upload different images for small, medium and large dimensions and still benefit from image handlers resizing- and watermarking capabilities.
- Choose preferred image-types for each image size.
- Source image filetype doesn’t matter. Have jpg base files with gif and png additional files if you want to.
- Drops in and out seamlessly. No need to redo your images. All images are kept.
- Easy install. One-click-database-upgrade.
- Works with mass-update/-upload tools like EzPopulate.
- Watermark images to prevent Mr. Competitor from stealing them.
- Fancy image hover functionality lets a larger image pop up whenever you move your mouse above a small image (switchable).
- Watermarking and Fancy Hovers work with different source-images for small, medium and large, too!
- Choose an image background color matching your site’s color or select a transparent background for your images.
- Manage your multiple images for products easily from one page just like you do with attributes in the Products Attribute Manager.

Please post questions and error-reports here to the forum so everyone benefits from it. I will monitor this thread and see what can be done. Please include as much information as you can as tracking bugs without sufficient information about a problem makes the task even more frustrating. Oh, and if you don't have any problems at all, please post that, too! I really like to know. After all, that's what I do it for.
